Week 2

On Friday May 16th Root EggY and I ran the second Golden Egg Weekly and it was a fantastic tournament. We had players from DKMR, Managrind, MYM and other rising stars enter for a chance at the prize pool along with an invite to the Golden Egg Main Event in the coming weeks. We had learned a lot from running week 1 so we made some significant changes to improve the tournament!

We still streamed the entire tournament live but this week we did it in 5 hours instead of 8 and in that time we were able to show more games. With DKMR DaLighzic’s help as admin we were able to schedule matches so that we could show and cast 2 games per round as well as many of the bracket stage matches with minimal delay. We also refined the existing overlays and added new ones for the mulliganing and brackets so that we could share tournament updates on stream in between matches.

New Format

This week we started with 32 players on the NA Server in a SWISS style B01 series and after 5 rounds of play the 32 players were cut down to the top 8. The top 8 played in BO3’s to move forward and ultimately the finalists played a BO5 for the championship!

Results and Prizes

After 5 rounds of SWISS play the top 8 played BO3’s and the players were whittled down to the finals where Mana Grind LuigEzz’s played against the dark horse Azuzu in a BO5.
