iHearthU New Cloud9 Player Interviews
Cloud9 HyperX recently announced the formation of an all new Hearthstone division, including many of the members of former Team DogeHouse, along with other well-respected Hearthstone players in the scene. C9 is well known for its successes in other eSports, particularly League of Legends and DotA2. iHearthU.com got the chance to speak to the players, and get their thoughts on this new development.

As captain of C9’s new Hearthstone team, how do you think this transition will benefit the players?
“It feels like we are finally a real Team. Doge House was more like a band of brothers formed for Fight Night. Even though we had an extremely good setup it started to wither with Savjz going to Curse and Nyhx retiring. Right now I feel that we have a very strong start with some of the best players in the World and I’m also happy about the overall team composition. We have excellent deck-builders, players who are extremely passionate about the game and everyone is very competitive. Cloud9 will provide us with essential support needed, so that we can thrive and take our game to the very next level.”
What are your personal plans as a player and Hearthstone community figure moving forward, now that you are a member of Cloud9?
“I’m really excited about the captain’s role and I can tell you now it’s not an easy one. My focus will be not only to remain as one of the top players in the game, but also work with the team to aim at an undisputed 1st spot in the World. This means that the team will have to grow both individually and as a group. I still have to figure some stuff out, but I have a good understanding on what we want to achieve. Beside that my eyes are on Blizzcon and trying to get as many players qualified for the World Champs as possible.”
Strifecro

You’ve been silent in the Hearthstone scene for awhile now, especially considering your conspicious absence at Dreamhack. Will you be jumping back into the competitive scene more actively as a member of Cloud9?
“I was in China for 2 weeks during Dreamhack. I haven’t been trying to go inactive, but I’ll do my best to attend as many events as I can.”
In what ways do you hope that your new team will help build up your personal brand as a top Hearthstone player?
“I feel like the team we built with Cloud9 has a really good core group of players and a really solid organization behind us. I’m hoping we can become a stable team and develop a strong brand through consistency this year.”

With your new position on Cloud9, do you plan on focusing more on competitive play and tournements, or will streaming remain as your bread and butter?
“I definitely want to focus more on competitive play now that I have a great team to practice with. I will of course keep streaming, but will take constructed more seriously. Hopefully, you’ll see me in upcoming tournaments! Feels great to join a team again. Being a full-time streamer is my dream job, but I have truly missed the adrenaline that comes with competing. I’m excited to be a part of e-sports once again!”
If you had to pick one teammate whom your most looking forward to working and training with, who would it be and why?
“I’m excited to work and train with Strifecro! I admire his unique playstyle and deck-building and have always been impressed with his consistency in tournaments.”

You’ve become famous as perhaps the most outspoken, controversial pro in Hearthstone today. Has your new team asked you to dial it down?
“I am the self proclaimed best but also most hated Hearthstone player. That is obviously something i have to work on if I represent a brand like Cloud9. So yeah, I guess I have to cut the BM now :D”
How do you think that this new transition will impact you as a player, and the rest of former Team DogeHouse?
“Cloud9 is one of the most recognizable teams when it come to e-sports. Being a member of that team will give us former DogeHouse members a huge boost in terms of recognition. Obviously having a dedicated manager and staff behind us helps us a lot. Now we have even more time available to actually play the game in order to become even stronger and establish our dominance in the competitive scene. Overall I am very happy with the transition to Cloud9 and am looking forward towards a bright future in an ever growing competitive Hearthstone scene.”
