Blizzcon is an incredible experience where we hear the latest World of Warcraft lore, watch the premiere Starcraft 2 competition, listen to the Blizzard developers talk about the games we love and get to demo the newest games like Heroes of the Storm and of course, Hearthsone.

Having grown up playing collectable card games (CCGs) like Magic: The Gathering, this year was particularly special to me because of the Hearthstone beta release and it culminated with the first Blizzard run Hearthstone Tournament, the 2013 Innkeepers Invitational. The tournament showcased the potential of the game as we all got to watch through the eyes of the legendary casters and streamers we know and love.

The Hearthstone competitors did so much behind the scenes to prepare for this tournament I thought it would be of interest to the community to hear their perspective on this trial run for Hearthstone as a competitive game suited for tournaments. The tournament had fierce competition with famous names from WoW, Starcraft, Diablo and Magic: The Gathering including Noxious, Hafu, Husky, Reckful, Trump, and Day[9]. But the Hearthstone championship match featured none other than Artosis and Kripp and the final best of three match was a CCG slugfest that showed us the true potential of Hearthstone as an eSport.
