Dtwo Finishes Top 4 at Blizzcon
Down two matches in the preliminary qualifiers, DTwo fought a grueling road to win four straight matches and qualify with a 7-2 record for the Blizzcon World Championship NA Qualifier in New York. Flying all the way from Japan, DTwo started off strong in New York defeating Protohype in round 1. Losing his next round and moving to the losers’ bracket, DTwo faced Chakki in an elimination match. After successfully dispatching Chakki, only Deerjason stood between DTwo and a trip to Blizzcon 2014. With a convincing 3-0 finish, DTwo stamped his ticket to California.
DTwo entered the group stage of Blizzcon with another strong start, defeating Tom60229. His next round found him losing a close match two games to three against the eventual runner-up Tiddler Celestial. This loss meant DTwo must face Numberguy in an elimination match after having just recently defeated the Dutch player in the Mad Catz Battle of the Best tournament. A victory against Numberguy secured DTwo’s spot in the quarterfinals of the first Hearthstone World Championship. Waiting in top 8 was none other than one of the game’s indisputable titans, Strifecro. An intense match saw DTwo emerging victorious and facing the tournament’s eventual champion, Firebat, in the semifinals. After a tense back and forth game, DTwo just fell short in game 5 to Firebat’s Zoo.
We’d like to congratulate DTwo on his EPIC run in the first ever Hearthstone World Championships!
